Do people who live in the “middle east” call it the middle east? Where is the reference line?
1 CommentWe say things like “southeast Asia” and “middle east” while living in America. What if you travel from California to Japan, or to Israel, as an example, don’t you go west? Or is it because Alaska, the largest state in America, is both the western and eastern most state?

The term middle east or far east ( far East refers to Asia ) is actually old term. The terms were originally made by western European. They go east it is east Europe, then they go all the way east they end up in Asia, which they call Far East. Then the place between East Europe and Far East Asia is Middle East.
People in neither middle east or Far East use these terms.
Southeast Asia is referring to geographically southeast part of Asian continent. It is more scientifically accurate and politically correct.
